Kind of Creeped Out By the FSP

OK, so I have shared with people in the past my admiration for the Free State Project in New Hampshire. The idea itself is marvelous–get a bunch of freedom-loving libertarians to move to a state already friendly to the liberty movement and engender some significant change in advancing free markets for free people. Hell, I even adore the FSP’s rendition of the Gadsden flag above. Love it.

Sadly though, any thoughts of moving there vanished for me after listening to Episode #456 of Part of the Problem live from Porcfest. Dear Lord! Dave and Robbie were great as always, but some of those in attendance were some of the most vapid, hippie-rejects I’ve ever encountered. I mean, the liberty movement is about more than dreamily wishing for any encumbrances–including natural and moral–to vanish, thus creating some weird utopia. In other words, arguing for eugenics is not some bold libertarian stance; it is a sick and twisted libertinism and the FSP ought to be alarmed by it. Yuck.

It still might be better than Illinois, but that’s damning with faint praise if I’ve ever written it.

Instead, I’ll be free in Chattanooga, Savannah, Greenville or best, Montgomery where–albeit the state–has advanced the non-aggression principle to its logical and best extent.
