The Most Dangerous Place
N.B. The following are selections from my talk at St. Mary’s Church, Riverside, Illinois, January 12, 2020.
When they had departed, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Rise, take the child and his mother, flee to Egypt, and stay there until I tell you. Herod is going to search for the child to destroy him.”
Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt.
He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, “Out of Egypt I called my son.”
When Herod realized that he had been deceived by the magi, he became furious. He ordered the massacre of all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had ascertained from the magi.
Then was fulfilled what had been said through Jeremiah the prophet:
A voice was heard in Ramah,
sobbing and loud lamentation;
Rachel weeping for her children,
and she would not be consoled,
since they were no more.
Matthew 2:13-18

Whenever, no matter what year you were born but especially if you are 46 years of age or less, you are a survivor; a survivor of the greatest genocide in human history—and it’s not even close.
Over 61 million abortions in the United States have ended the lives of even more children since 1973.
Just last year, people committed an estimated 46 million murders of unborn children worldwide. The killing fields are abortion clinics, funded worldwide by such ‘powerless’ entities as the U.S. government, the United Nations, George Soros, Warren Buffet, and the Gates Foundation… You know, those champions of the poor and marginalized. (Sarcasm evident)”

As the Catholic Church, today we lament the loss of Catholic identity, Catholic culture and a sense of faith-filled direction. The Church is torn due to sin, due to fear and an absence of courage in the face of it.
Churches and schools are closed. Pews are empty. You need not search far and wide for the cause of this: It’s a demographic one. Those parishioners, those classmates, your children’s best friends, their eventual prom dates, your nieces and nephews, future saints—they’ve been aborted. In turn, their children and grandchildren never came to be.
Think about the exponential hole that leaves in the world, in society, in the Church, in our hearts.”

The movie Unplanned is powerful not simply because it starkly presents the reality of abortion and the demonic, truly demonic nature of the abortion industry. Indeed, it is powerful because it offers a means by which to combat the pervasive culture of death which worships at the altar of convenience.
The way to life must come through and be sustained by the laity. The bishops and many of the priests of the modern Church kowtow to the state, to modern culture. They are cowards. They are not what God called them to be; namely, martyrs, witnesses and defenders of God’s people.”
Whenever I see (and it is all too often) Cardinal Dolan glad-handing politicians in New York at the Al Smith dinner every four years or excusing nominal Catholics from excommunication or Cardinal (I call him ‘Blasé’) Cupich deliver a canned, milquetoast speech at the March for Life in Chicago, I want to puke. We should all be nauseated by that. I’m ashamed.”

What these ‘shepherds’ who have lost their staffs have blissfully ignored is the evident fact that, contrary to all divine and natural law, human kind has made the womb the most dangerous and deadly place on the planet for humanity.
We cannot stop fighting for our brothers and sisters until their mothers’ wombs and their mothers’ and fathers’ arms are the safest places to be.”
